Many types of back disorders don’t actually come from having an underlying disease. They are most likely caused by general aging, wear and tear, and from having poor posture. However, being overweight and smoking are both related factors for having back problems.

When this bulging occurs, and presses on a nerve, it can create sensations of pain and is referred to as a herniated or prolapsed disc.
A pressure that is created on the sciatic nerve root can causesciatica.The most frequent cause of sciatica, which is described by buttock and leg pain, results from a disc or bone spur pressing on a spinal nerve.
As people age, they can develop a condition known asspinal stenosis. Spinal stenosis is characterized as a narrowing of the canal which holds the spinal cord. Spinal stenosis can produce symptoms of both back and neck pain or a numbness and weakness of the arms or legs.
